Yeah, I knew that title would draw you in for sure. However, it has nothing to do with my post. I am actually writing about the introduction of "The Playdate" into our lives. Now as many already know, the playdate is really not for the kids. It is for the moms, and to be 100 percent PC, as we all know I always am...pause for reaction...the dads too. All in all it is a chance for moms to get together and chat about what moms most often chat about...their kids. It is also a way for stay at home moms to have adult conversation and interaction, regardless of the topic! OF course, I guess the playdate could result in the quote used as the title for this piece, but hopefully not!
Today was our first official playdate, and I hosted it at my home. I have met with several other moms for lunch dates and thus, but this was the first "real deal date." We had a total of 5 moms and 6 kids (5 boys and 1 girl) ranging from 4 months to 18 months. We enjoyed chicken salad, fresh fruit, sweet treats, and of course lots of spit up- you know...desert! We had lots of toys out all over the floor (compliments of the 18 month old), but no tantrums, and only a tad bit of fussing when the date was coming to a close, which makes it a successful event. The kids were totally worn out and crashed either in the stroller or in the carseat on the way home. Foster went to sleep in about 2 minutes, talking to himself as he drifted off into dreamland. Now if only I could take a nap, too bad I have never been a good napper! Easy clean up and at least an hour of downtime for mom instead, which I will take anyday!
Maybe I will read the book my sweetie got me for sweetheart day. He left it along with gorgeous flowers and sappy cards on the counter this morning and headed off to work. Of course, I told him not to do ANYTHING! I have the best husband in the world and boy do I take all the credit for it! I should run a husband training camp to whip them all into shape. Just kidding...but seriously I am looking for my next career path! Happy Valentine's Day!
