Daniel, Foster, and I enjoyed a week away, in the mountains of Georgia during his POM leave. It was so nice to get away from it all and relax! Mom and Dad were there for the night we arrived and they were of course thrilled to see little man! There was still color in the leaves of the tress, so we got that nice taste of fall. Plus it was very chilly, so we actually got to break out a
sweater or two. Living Florida, I don't even remember what the majority of my sweaters look like! And I have a whole cedar chest full of them!
We went to Blue Ridge and shopped around the quaint little town, took Foster to the park several times, walked dogs up the mountain, played pool, darts, and chess, and even made it out the Mercier's Orchard for a fabulous breakfast of Apple Bread French Toast- amazing! Aunt Meme bought Foster a little bear hat and mittens to wear and mom knitted him an adorable hat as well!
We ended the trip with an almost 7 hour trek across the state of NC to visit Daniel's family. Daniel wanted to spend as much time with his Grandfather as he could, since we don't ever see them unless we travel to Troy, and he has been doing poorly these past few months. Unfortunately he was under the weather and with other things pressing that weekend, we really only got to spend about an hour with him. But, an hour is better than nothing, and Howard and Arlene did get to see Foster! We also attended Brayden's first birthday and made a visit to Mary Lou who was in the hospital preparing to have back surgery. It was a short trip, but worth it.
